I knew I would be taking a bunch of pictures and wanted to share them with the world so I created another Instagram account, @thegreybirchwanderlust, to post my photos to. I figured it would be nice to not overload my faithful business following with photos of sunsets and sunrises and rocky beaches and seafood. (Again, follow us on Instagram @thegreybirchvintage for pictures of my handmade and vintage items, market going ons as well as some glimpses into our everyday life!)
I'm also planning on using the same account to document our day trips as well as future week-long trips. My husband and I love to explore, and this seemed like a good idea in the long run.
I cannot believe that tomorrow marks the official end of summer. It seems to have gone by so quickly! So much has happened and so much is now on the plate for the coming fall season. (No complaints!)
-This coming weekend will mark the final weekend of the 4th installment of the Hudson River Exchange's pop-up shop series, the Warren Street Exchange. This particular grouping feature both vintage and handmade goodies from yours truly, as well as the super talented Razimus Jewelry (highlighting our recent collaboration! SO GREAT), Nadine Medina Designs and Paper Wolf Design. It's a pretty great feeling to see your stuff in a retail setting, I've got to say.
Stella and Kate, the amazing ladies behind the HRE pour their heart and soul into their mission of creating an environment that connects buyers with makers and collectors in the area.
Starting your own business is hard! They're trying to make it possible for myself and the other driven and talented makers and collectors in the Hudson Valley and surrounding areas. You should definitely check in to see what they're up to, because whenever they have something brewing, you KNOW it's going to be good.
-There are a bunch of markets for us on the horizon. You can check on the latest schedule HERE.
-One of the markets on the agenda is brand new: The Half Moon Market which is being put together by another group of incredible ladies: Caroline and Katy of Fort Orange General Store here in Albany as well as Adelia, the talent behind Owlkill Studio. This is another situation where you know it's going to be impeccably executed- from the ambiance of the venue to the flyers.
This particular market is exciting for so many reasons, however one important one being that it's located IN Albany. It's been the norm to have to travel across the river to Troy and down the river to Hudson, but there hasn't yet been a market within New York State's capitol... until now. Mark October 24th+25th on your calendar!!
-The makers participating in the Troy Makers Market received some wonderful news at the end of August, that the market will be extended along side the Farmers Market through October (when the market will then move inside). It's pretty wonderful to note that we've become regulars next to the largest Farmers Market in the Capital Region and people do in fact look for us every week.
-Basilica Farm + Flea, just like the HRE Summer Market, is an anticipated market event in the Hudson Valley and takes place over Thanksgiving weekend. It's the perfect venue for those of you looking to shop for the holidays- for yourself or others- and avoid commercial big box stores and obnoxious crowds. You'll be surrounded by makers and collectors from around the region as well as some great food too.
Listing all of these markets has made me anxious and realize I should probably go work on something.
